Recommended Books About Prayer
I love learning more about the practice of prayer (especially praying God's Word) and I love to read, so let's just say I've read a lot of books about prayer. I underlined about half the book, soaking in the beauty and the power of prayer and its many forms and purposes. It's one I return to every year and find it so encouraging and inspiring to persevere in my prayers. Highly recommend! Another fantastic book to encourage you in your prayer life. The author has a daughter with autism and I have two children with special needs, so I could really relate to this one.

If you're a parent raising a child (or children) with special needs, you know the ache, the loneliness, the worry and fear that can become consuming if you let it. You can find yourself struggling with grief, anxiety, and/or depression, and experience a crisis of faith. You need all the help and support and encouragement and faith and hope you can get. I've been there—I have two boys who both have special needs. And I also love reading. So I'm in my happy place when I stumble across a book that can encourage or enlighten me on this special needs parenting journey. I dunno about you, but I love reading, especially reading books that will nurture my faith and my heart. Yet no matter how much I read, my to-read list always seems to be getting longer and longer. Thank you for your support! A Confident Heart by Renee Swope. Man oh man, did this book help me deal with some insecurity issues I didn't even know how to tackle. It was an encouraging read that I actually read several years ago, but reread recently and gleaned so much from it both times I've read it!, Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund.

Thank you for your support! Here's a few of my favorite books for Christian writers, in no particular order: This is one book that I absolutely love to read every year. We know as Christian writers we're supposed to build a platform so that others can hear our message (and hopefully buy our books should we feel led to write and publish any ). But building a platform can feel icky or distracting. This book is filled with great reminders of why building a platform is a great way to share the Gospel and words of hope with the whole world. I loved the use of Scriptures throughout to help make the message clear.
WritingGreat Books Featuring Young Characters With Disabilities
I am a middle school English teacher who is always reading (and recommending to my students) books I think they'll enjoy. I am also the mother of two boys who both have special needs. I am drawn to books that teach my boys they are not the only ones with different abilities and special needs. And I love introducing my students and my own children into the worlds of children with disabilities as well. We live in a diverse world, where each and every person is created differently, and I love seeing diversity in our literature. Especially since stories are such a great vehicle to help us understand and appreciate cultures, worlds, and abilities that are different than ours. Books and stories are some of the best tools we have to teach our children about new things and new concepts, as well as teach them empathy by putting them in other characters' shoes and imagining what their life is like.

I'm an avid reader and I do enjoy writing. And as much as I am touched by receiving a new writing journal with a fancy pen, I've stumbled across many an item on Amazon that strikes my reading/writing fancy. Not only would this make a cool gift, but factor in that so many Kindle/Nook users complain that they miss the smell of books, and this just solves all their problems! They have a variety of scents, such as Old Books, Rainy Day Reads , Sherlock's Study , and Bookstore. There are several t-shirts I've stumbled across that I would love to add to my wardrobe one day.
